Art + Australia is calling for proposals from artists, designers, architects, curators, theorists and historians for Issue 62.1, our 2027 Open Issue. We encourage submissions from across the globe that interrogate artistic trends, artistic practices and create new dialogues about art and its relationship to broader contexts.
We are seeking proposals that interrogate art, its histories and broader contexts. Some proposal prompts that you may like to address are:
Provocations — about art history, current state of the artworld, technology, biennales, the future of art
Criticisms — key exhibitions, gallery programs, publications, exhibitions and emerging theories
Overviews — disciplinary trends, curatorial overviews, market tracking, approaches to art pedagogy, artist profiles
Discoveries — overlooked and emerging artists, marginal histories, new exhibitions
Cover artist — bold art for our digital issue ‘cover’ (the artwork found at the top of the webpage)*
We accept all final submissions in a range of formats including video, audio, artworks, articles, essays and conversations. Your intended format will need to be indicated in your proposal.
